About the event

Places where one ecosystem meets another, like where the sea meets the land at the shore, are especially abundant wild food sources. In this walk we will gather foods along the shore in Blackwaterfoot taking in the beautiful scenery and rich history of the area. You can expect to encounter umami rich seaweed, coastal succulent plants, crustaceans, herbs, fruits and seeds along this walk.

We'll cover everything you need to know to safely forage along the coast. We'll also discover some important local history and folklore about the enigmatic and ancient landscape overlooking us.

The walk is 1.5 hours and the pace will be slow, with plenty of stops for tasting, discovering and discussing. The walk is open to all age groups and all levels of experience, including total beginners. The route takes us through the sandy beach and over rocky patches so come prepared with sturdy waterproof footwear. I also recommend waterproof outer clothes to be prepared for rain. You may want to bring your bag or basket for your treasures along the way.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
