Forest Walk with a Wild Food Feast

Spend the afternoon learning about the world of wild abundance here on the Isle of Arran. In this walk we'll cover everything you need to know to safely forage in any season under the guidance of expert Wild Food Educator, Zoë. You will have fun soaking up the mystical landscapes and ancient history of the island as you taste your way through the wild larder on offer.

Duration: 2.5 hours

Level: Beginner

Location: Eas-Mor Ecology Project, Isle of Arran. There are two car parks separated by the road. We will meet in the higher one.

Arran is an island rich in history and wildlife. On this Forest Walk we will delve into the wild food of Arran’s forests, discovering the ancient flavours and learning how to confidently identify the plants we encounter. We will walk the spectacular Eas Mor Waterfall path discussing the plants that we discover. This is an easy gravel path with a steep incline  to start.

The Wild Food Feast will involve freshly cooking up what we have gathered along the way with some additional foraged and homemade sides. The specific food will depend on what is most abundant and delicious at the time. We will enjoy eating and cooking together outside. The walk is open to all age groups. Children under 16 are free of charge but will need to be accompanied by an adult. The pace and terrain of this walk will be moderate as we need to climb a steep hill at the start of the walk (the views are well worth it). Dogs are very welcome at all Wild Food Arran walks, providing they are happy to be around groups of excited people. Things you will need to bring:

• A bag or basket for your treasures along the way.
• Waterproof clothes, a decent coat at least.
• Wellies or other comfy waterproof shoes.
• Notepad or phone to take notes and pictures.
• A bottle of water/drink each for lunch.

All Wild Food Arran foraging walks will go ahead in wet weather. Only storms or dangerous winds will lead to cancellations. I recommend coming prepared for rain. Please read through the Terms and Conditions and Cancellation Policy for more info.
